Thandai - nut and spice milk drink

Ingredients
  • 1 liter milk
  • 65 grams almonds
  • 4 tsp poppy seeds
  • 2 tsp fennel seeds
  • 2 tsp black pepper corns
  • 1 tsp dry rose petals
  • 1/4 tsp saffron
  • 5-6 green cardamom
  • 20 grams dates pitted
  • 3-4 tsp water
  • Rum optional
Instructions
  1. Soak almonds for 4-5 hours and peel.
  2. Boil poppy seeds in 3-4 tbsp water for 2-3 minutes.
  3. In another bowl- add peeled almonds, boiled poppy seeds along with the water and rest of the ingredients, besides milk.
  4. Soak them in little water for 5-6 hours.
  5. Using the same water, grind it to fine smooth paste and add milk.
  6. Blend it well.
  7. You could strain it or leave it as it is.
  8. Add Rum if you like.
  9. Serve it chilled or heat it up and enjoy it warm.
