This hearty daal is garlicky, tomatoey and utterly delicious. Perfect and quick weeknight meal. I grew up eating daals on daily basis. And this particular masoor daal was always mixed with yellow split Moong daal. It was only after #i started dating my husband, he made me fell in love with just plain laar masoor daal by itself (red lentils) 😊 . I have been cooking lots of hearty and quick meals like this lately. Weather has warmed up and spending most of the time in the yard. So quick and wholesome meals like this is always a win win. . Eid Mubarak to all who celebrating 🌙✨ .
Seviyan Kheer or Vermicelli Kheer one of my favorites to make during Eid✨ The vermicelli is roasted in ghee along with cashews, pistachios, almonds and raisins. The milk is boiled with Cardamom, Saffron, and dried rose petals; and then poured over the roasted vermicelli along with some sweetener. Its then simmered and cooked untill thick, luscious and creamy😋😍 You can eat it warm or cold. Personally i like to have some warm and then later super chilled🤪
The nuttiness from all the nuts, sweet and floral aroma from saffron and rose, and subtle citrusy and sharp flavor from Cardamom makes this dessert so heavenly 😍 Breakfast, lunch or dinner, this luscious snd creamy Kheer is perfect for anytime of the day😋👌
Made a big pot of this seviyan to enjoy tonight after dinner and tomorrow for breakfast 😍

Another batch of Walnut and Rum Babka/Cozonac will happen this week, just because its so good😊😍 And we all need a weekly dose of sweet indulgence right🤔 The rum, with some chocolate and coffee along with citrus, lots of grand marnier and kaluha = Heavenly 😍What do you think???? How pretty are those marble layers😍😍 The plain white layer was lemon and vanilla flavor, while the chocolate layer was orange and rum flavor. It was a perfect combination of flavors and such a great everyday tea or coffee time cake. I will write up the recipe soon OTB. Had made it for the nurses at my husband’s workplace, and they all loved it. While I wanted to bake it again this weekend for mother’s day; I don’t have any more bananas left, and my mom is also not close by to enjoy. Too bad.... 😢 I wish I was close enough to bake and drop it off for my mom. She would have savored every bit of it. Its so difficult to live so far apart, and especially during such uncertain time. Hoping to get our normal life back soon. .
What are you baking this weekend? Well, I might still be baking or making some sort of dessert with whatever ingredients i have, to celebrate my fur baby’s🐶 4 month bday😍 .

Keema mushroom matar (minced goat meat with mushrooms and garden peas)😋😍 Hearty, and utterly delicious. This will be our dinner tonight stuffed in soft corn tacos over some basmati rice and mint chutney aioli😋😋 However, I will be using minced turkey instead of goat meat, since that’s what i got. You can substitute minced goat with chicken, turkey, lamb, pork or whatever you like. Recipe OTB

These instant semolina & oats vegetable idlis is a perfect breakfast/brunch/lunch or even tea time snack. Growing up it was one of my favorite breakfast to have. When mom said “vegetable idlis for breakfast”, i sure did eat a lot😊 Every time I got back to college dorms after the weekend, my friends would wait for home cooked meal that mom used to pack each time. And these idlis were a big hit among all my college besties😊 Idlis with spicy mint coriander chutney, oh so delicious 😋 We only made these with semolina back home, but i like to add Oats too, to add that extra nutrition. You could also add some chili garlic sauce along with soya sauce in the stir fry, and you have asian style idlis. Another version of these idlis that I absolutely love is - lots of Spinach and Paneer. And these ones just plain With chutney, not with stir fry vegetables. Lots of ways you can enjoy these super moist, spongy and delicious idlis. .

Masoor Daal with Basmati rice 🍚😋A simple plant based 🌱and gluten free meal that has been on repeat past few weeks. This whole pandemic situation has made me crave comforting meals and nothing is more soulful than a bowl of daal chawal (lentil with rice) .
What makes my heart skip a beat?? Well, for me that has to be the love of my life. He truly makes my heart skip a beat ❤️. And while I had a different scene in mind with some coffee and him (only his hands though🙈😜) in the picture for today’s theme for #ecsqc #eatcaptureshare , that didn’t work. He has long hours at work and its hard to plan a shoot when he’s at home. Very rarely i get lucky like that😊 So i made his favorite plant based meal - Masoor Daal with Rice for today’s theme. Growing up, mom always mixed masoor daal with yellow moong daal. I never had this daal by itself and always thought, that this is the way this daal is supposed to be eaten🤦🏻‍♀️ Only after i started dating him, he made me taste masoor daal by itself, and I absolutely loved it. And since then i have been making it on repeat. It has become one of my favorite daals to have now. .
